Buyers' Inspections

All inspections are performed in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the Minnesota Society of Housing Inspectors.

  • Buyer is encouraged to attend the inspection for an onsite walk-through with the inspector.
  • Buyer will leave the property with a computer generated report in hand.

The inspection report contains information about the readily accessible areas of the property and covers the following items:

Exterior

  • Grading, drainage, walkways, driveways, siding, decks, steps, porches, patios, roof coverings, chimneys, and garages.

Interior

  • Walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows and stairways.

Structure

  • From the foundation to the roof.

Plumbing

  • Interior water supply, water heaters, and waste disposal systems.

Heating and Cooling Systems

  • Central heating and cooling systems and distribution, including exhaust systems.

Electrical

  • Interior and exterior electrical wiring and fixtures. All panel boxes.

Insulation and Ventilation

  • Attic areas.
NOTE: The purchase and ownership of real estate involves risk. An inspection may present information which may help reduce some of the risk, but it does not eliminate your risk entirely.
